My name is James Cornelius. I am in my second semester at John Tyler Community College, and am currently in the Information Technology course of study. At the moment, I'm taking 13 credits, only 9 of which count towards my GPA.
My plans at the moment are to graduate JTCC with an IT degree, and get a job as a Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA).
I've never built a website, or hacked a database, or redirected a satellite, but I would like to think that I have a (slightly) higher than average computer competency. I'm proficient in Microsoft Office, and pretty familiar with Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as some other programs that my church uses for different tasks.
I got out of the Navy in February of 2010, and since then have been doing temporary jobs, until last month when I got a job at Cracker Barrel on Hull Street. I'm waiting tables, and will hopefully be there until I find a job as a CCNA.
When I'm not at school or work, I spend time working with a group of single mothers and their children ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/Thrive/58296927543?v=info ). My mother ran a daycare in our home for 20 years, so I've been raised around children my entire life. I really do believe our future rests in the hands of these kids, and as the current generation we have a responsibility to help them grow and succeed. I'm just trying to do my part.
I am also involved in the childrens ministry at my church, and help out with their tech team as needed (video projection, camera operations, etc). I'm kind of into photography and photo processing, but I'm definitely an amateur, and still have a lot to learn.
