Tutorial 3:
1) I didn't realize that Hotmail was part of Windows Live. "Windows Live Hotmail is a Webmail provider from microsoft that you use to send and receive email."
2) I learned about SkyDrive. "...the file sharing service provided by Windows. This service is called SkyDrive."
3) I learned that Google has placed size/quantity restrictions on their Docs application. No files larger than 500 KB, no more than 5000 documents total.
Tutorial 4:
4) I learned that web robots (aka: bot, spider) are programs that scour the internet to find new websites and update information about old web sites that have already been catalogued. They also delete information about websites that no longer exist.
5) I learned about "stemming", where search engines automatically search variants of a keyword. Example: "Canada" will also return results with the word "Canadian".
6) I learned that converting a natural language question (questions phrased the way we talk to other people) into a search expression (questions phrased in a way to get reliable search results) is called "parsing".

Tutorial 2 - 3 Facts Learned Blog
1. I learned about the CAN-SPAM (Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing) Act of 2004. I also learned that it has been mostly affective, but when enforced carries a fine of up to $11,000 for "spammers" who violate its provisions.
2. The main provisions of the CAN-SPAM Act: A) "Unsolicited email must identify the sender," B) "contain an accurate message subject and a notice that the message is an advertisement or solicitation," C)"make it possible for the recipient to 'opt out' of future mailings within 10 days of receipt of the request,"D) "include the sender's physical postal address," E) "prohibit the sender from selling or transferring an email address with an opt out request to any other entity."
3. I learned that virus contain a "virus signature" (also called "virus pattern" or "virus definition") which is a string of characters that is always present in a particular virus. From my understanding, a certain trojan virus will have this 'signature' while a certain strand of a worm virus will have another 'signature'.
